Merry Christmas Eve

We have been busy making cookies from scratch and the kids have loved every minute of it. They have eaten almost as many cookies as we have made.
We decorated our gingerbread house and train, went to see some Christmas lights and then came home to get ready for Santa.

We wrote letters to Santa to put in our stockings and left him some of our cookies and some milk. Then we had to take "magic reindeer food" that Spencer made and water for the reindeer outside. They wanted to give them carrots too and the only ones I had were for supper Christmas day. Who am I to deprive the poor little reindeer. As soon as the kids were in bed I rushed out to rescue my carrots and washed them off. Do you think Martha Stewart would approve? ha ha ha

I am attaching my Christmas card as none of you actually have one in your hands. I JUST finished it on the 23rd. Really I am going to mail them out too. lol Every year I say I am going to make them earlier and I never do...sigh!!
I hope everyone has a wonderful night and dreams of sugarplums dancing in your heads.

Christmas lights

We started today off by going to see Santa's reindeer and check out some snow they made. Well it was 78 degrees so you can imagine what the "snow" looked like. We avoided the huge puddle and just looked at the reindeer.
Then our dear friend Beth took the kids and I to see Alvin and the Chipmunks for their Christmas present. They laughed throughout the whole movie. Then to add more to our full day we went to see Christmas lights with Bob's brother James and his family. Once we got to the neighbourhood we all piled in the back of the pickup truck with hot chocolate, blankets, pillows and Christmas carols on the cd player and drove around. We had a blast and the kids just loved being in the back of the truck. They waved to everyone and yelled "Merry Christmas".
I just love this time of year!!!!!

Dear Santa

The kids wrote their letter to Santa tonight. Actually the little ones drew him pictures. I wanted to share Spencer's letter, he did it all by himself and even addressed the envelope. I will translate below. You can click it to make it larger.

"Dear Santa,

I want a transformer and a tractor and a poster and a car and a action figure."

Then he drew himself and santa. Not bad for sounding it all out by himself. He even argued with me about the "ch" in transformer" and tractor being a "ch" not "t" sound. lol

Bad hair day

Sydney was playing quietly on the floor in the kitchen drawing pictures........or so I thought. When I looked down and saw her hair on the floor no longer attached to her head!!! Actually it was not bad, she didn't manage to cut that much before I noticed.
She seemed very pleased with herself for a second or so until she could tell I was NOT pleased. The tears came and she was all upset then. I of course made her pose for pictures holding her missing hair.

Happy birthday to you and you and you

Sydney, Caden and Peyton
Caden, Peyton and Sydney

Happy birthday Peyton, Sydney and Caden. I can't believe that they are 4 years old already, where has the time gone?
They wanted to go to Chuck E Cheeses for their birthday. They had a ball and really enjoyed the attention and their presents this year.

Caden,
You are my little man. You have grown so much in the last four years it just amazes me. You are so soft hearted and always want to please. You are the shyest little guy I know and always want to have your Mommy close by for reassurance. I know the day is coming when you won't want me so close so I am treasuring every moment. Your big beautiful eyes just melt my heart when you say "Mommy, I love you!"

Sydney,
You are so indepenant already. You remind me so much of myself its scary sometimes. You are stobborn and definitely have your own opinions on things. You are so smart and just amaze me everyday with things you come out with. You don't need to be shown things more than once to catch on. You may be bossy, but you definitely like hugs and kisses. You can melt me with your sweet little face and expressions.

Petyon,
You are just so cuddly and sweet. You are always hugging and kissing me and I just treasure every one. You never stop talking and love to hear how cute you are. You are the last to go to sleep and the first to wake up. You were the one who the other two always pushed around and you just sat there and took it or ran away. Well you have come a long way and don't take it anymore. In fact you will chase down the your brothers and sister and take back whatever they took and let them have it. Even your mad pouty face makes my heart skip a beat you are so cute.

I hope the next year is absolutely wonderful for you and my only wish is that you stop growing up so fast!!!!!

Party party party

I helped out at Spencer's school for their Christmas around the world day. I helped the kids play the dreidel game. It was kind of cute the first couple of times, but after playing it for twenty minutes with 5 different groups of kids I am done. ha

Then all the kindergarten kids went into the hallway and sang Christmas carols.

The little ones celebrated their birthday at their preschool today. I took cupcakes and chocolate milk. The teachers decorated the tables and sang to them.
They really seemed to enjoy it. The teachers were great and took pictures for me as I left my camera. I am sure they think I am the crazy picture lady.......hey, I think they are right. lol

Frosty

Looks who lives in our front yard now. The kids were absolutely thrilled when Sharyon and John came over with this. They even helped set it up.
Spencer tried to be excited, but had to come in the house and lay down as he is sick AGAIN!!!
I've said it before........gotta love kindergarten.

The next American Idol

I just had to share my sweet Sydney singing. She is a natural, just like her Mama........NOT.
She is such a ham too and wanted me to tape her. The others all conveniently
"forgot" the words once I started recording.

We have most of our decorations up now despite the kids best efforts to "help". They were putting ornaments on the tree and everytime I would put one on, 4 would fall off as they just hung them by one little needle on the tree. It took a little longer than expected to decorate.
Their little faces just LIT up with all the stuff. They had every musical and talking critter going at the same time, my head still hurts.
Before they went to bed they wanted to make sure I wasn't going to put it all away before they got up. The little ones must have asked a dozen times if it was still Christmas.

Here come Santa Claus

We went to High Star Christmas Tree Farm today with my local multiples group. We always love getting together with them and have fun.
The kids got to see Santa and tell him what they want for Christmas. Caden didn't want to talk to him until he bribed him with a peppermint candy - then he ran over and gave him a hug.
We took a wagon ride through the Christmas trees and played in a maze and some hay.
I just have a ball seeing everything through the kids eyes. There is nothing better than being a Mom!!!!

Another missing tooth

Spencer lost his second tooth yesterday, his bottom left. He thinks it fell out when he was getting on the bus to come home from school. We had to draw another picture of his tooth for the tooth fairy and he wrote her a note telling her he lost it. He sounded it out all himself too. He wrote her name on the envelope before he put it under his pillow........."tooth fere". I guess that IS how it sounds. ha
This time the tooth fairy gave him 5 $1 bills, a new pirate toothbrush and a note sprinkled with fairy dust. He was thrilled.
You can click on the pictures to make them big enough to read.

Fun in the snow

We took the kids into Oklahoma City today to play in the snow....ok so it was fake snow. They had a big pile of it for the kids to throw snowballs and build snowmen. It was too slushy for snowmen and not great packing snow as the temperature was above freezing.
They did have a huge hill for sliding on inner tubes. I didn't think the little ones would go down alone and I wasn't allowed to take them on a sled with me, so Spencer was the one who got to go.
I wasn't sure he would go either as it was a pretty big hill, he LOVED it. My neice Rebecca and him went down the hill for an hour and a half. We stood at the bottom and cheered them on. Bob got to carry his innertube up the stairs a million times.
Afterwards we stopped at some MORE Christmas lights and they kids were equally excited as they were the other night.
We didn't walk around this time as everyone was SOAKED from playing in the snow. One of these days I will have to take them home to Canada in the winter for some real snow.

Happy Thanksgiving

I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. We are in Oklahoma visiting Bob's parents. Bob's brother James, his wife Queta and their daughter Rebecca also came to visit.
We got to meet Bob's aunt Lynn while we were here too. She came from New Mexico for a visit. We are getting used to the cold weather and loving it.
We all went walking in Red Rock Canyon Park and then out to see some awesome Christmas lights. We drove through, then parked and walked around the park to look at them. I thought the kids were just going to burst they were so excited.

Here is a little video of Spencer singing his Thanksgiving songs he learned in school.

Lighting of the Doves

We went to the "Lighting of the Doves" last night. A local celebration where Santa arrives by boat and reads a story. They have crafts and stages with entertainment too. We of course saw Santa's feet while he read the story. The kids were unphased though and had a great time. They loved the fireworks display after the lights were lit. We also couldn't tear them away from the craft station where you make necklaces out of beads. Frosty was roaming around too, but this year it was Caden that was scared of him. He gave him a hug because Mommy went with him and held his hand. Last year Peyton wanted nothing to do with him.

Thank you Nana

The kids got new pjs from our good friend Sharyon aka Nana. Peyton got Cinderella, Sydney got The Little Mermaid, Caden got Thomas the Train and Spencer got cars. They were absolutely thrilled. The littles ones couldn't believe their pjs matched their bedsheets. Caden is still wearing his and its afternoon, he won't take them off.
THANK YOU NANA, we love you.

Big feast

I went to Spencer's Thanksgiving "feast" at school today. He chose to be a pilgrim. The kids all sang two songs about turkeys and I don't have any sound on my camera!!!! I am hoping to get a good digital video camera at day after Thanksgiving sales. It was nice to be able to concentrate on just Spencer as the little ones were in daycare.

Bob was pulling in to the daycare parking lot Tuesday and Sydney threw up all over the back of his truck. Needless to say he just turned around and came home. I was already at work so he was on his own. Sydney keeps telling me she "puked in Daddy's car". Bob taught her that, isn't it sweet...NOT. He was home with them while I worked so I was able to drop them off at the daycare on a day that I was not working.

I was going to go for Spencer's little Thanksgiving party and then come home ALL ALONE!!!His teacher had told them that they could leave after the party if they wanted. (Is she NUTS, she obviosly had no kids and lots of time to be ALONE!!!)I tried to convince Spencer that he had to stay, but he looked at me with those sad eyes and was just pathetic. Plans changed and I decided I would spend the whole afternoon with just Spencer. He never gets Mommy all to himself. We went to the dollar store and he picked out a toy he wanted, we shopped at couple nearby stores looking for a comforter for his bed with a space theme. (He decided that he wanted this theme and I can't find one!!!) Then we went to Bennigams for a yummy dessert. We finished our afternoon by going to the movies and saw Ratatouille. We had a wonderful day and he thoroughly enjoyed having Mommy all to himself. Almost as much as Mommy enjoyed having him all to herself. Now I just need to stop feeling guilty that we did this and left the little ones at the daycare!!!

Market Street

We took the kids to a tree lighting event near us last night. They had a band and lit their huge Christmas tree and had a small fireworks display afterwards. The kids enjoyed it. The weather here is cold (relatively speaking) and I had to break out the winter coats. They had "snow flurries" for the kids to play in. It was machines that shot out small bubbles.
Who are they trying to fool - I am Canadian. lol

Children's festival

We took the kids to the Children's festival this weekend. We have never been before and it was GREAT. We got free tickets from our summer reading program at the library so that made it even nicer.
They had games and crafts and shows - you name it.
We could hardly carry all the crafts the kids made, they LOVE crafts.
We will definitley be there again next year.
Bob's brother and his family met us there too.

One cool cat

It was Spencer's 50th day of school today so they dressed up for the part and had a sock hop with milk shakes at school. He was so excited, mostly about having his hair slicked back. I think he was just adorable.
He told me he danced with all his friends too.
Look out Fonzi, here comes Spencer.

Pirate ship

Bob took Spencer to Home Depot again for their kids workshop. The little ones were not very happy that they weren't old enough to go. They kept telling me that they WERE bigger.

School picture

We got Spencer's school picture today. It was taken a few weeks ago. He is just too cute and I can't believe he is old enough to have school pictures.
