Back to pre-school

Today was Spencer's first day back at his mother's day out program. He has a new teacher this year named Becky. He was really excited to go and see his friends. Some of the kids from last year are in his class, including his best friend Tanner.

Peyton is at it again....

My poor little accident prone Peyton.

I got a frantic call from Bob last night at work as I was getting ready to leave telling me to "leave work NOW, come home NOW!!!!!" Peyton had fallen and cut her head.
I get home to discover that she has fallen on a terra cotta pig that I had made out of flower pots. She has a giant gash on her forehead and my pig is smashed (which she did with her head) when she was running through the kitchen and fell face first in to it.
She is laying on the couch with a wash cloth on her forehead whimpering and the other kids are all around her rubbing her and saying "its alright Peyton". Would have been sweet if she was not hurt.
I take the wash cloth off to discover a huge cut that is about 1 inch long and open about 1/2 an inch. Once I picked myself off the floor I closed it with a steri-strip and put some gauze on it and off we went to the emergency room. I didn't even have time to change out of my scrubs.
After 4 hours in the ER we ended up with the wound glued shut with durabond. She was not very happy with the doctor when he irrigated her cut and then sealed it with the glue. Poor thing had to be held down so she wouldn't move and just kept yelling "no hurt - hurt me - it hurts". Just broke my heart and I would have given anything to take her place. We didn't get home until almost 12:30 am and I was scheduled to work again today at 6:45 am. They called this morning an cancelled me as they were over-staffed......I was thrilled. I had spent almost 18 hours in a hospital yesterday and was over it.
Now I am worried about what kind of scar she is going to have. I am just praying its very faint.........and that this is the LAST accident for my little princess!!!

Roseola

We figured out what Sydney has..........roseola. She has ALL the textbook symptoms. Except someone needs to tell her that she is not supposed to feel bad and be cranky!!!!!
She had a high fever on the way back from Canada and did not feel well at all. Then when the fever broke she had a little bit of a rash under her eyes and around her neck on Tuesday. Well, now she is covered in the rash and itchy.
Her face in the blotchiest right now with a raised rash. Poor little thing. Well, she's not actually sick, just itchy.
Hopefully she will be back to herself soon

We're home

There were 5 in the bed and the little
one said roll over, roll over.

squished in the hotel

We made it home. Nothing like spending three days in the car with 4 kids to make you really appreciate it.
The kids were like little inmates newly released from prison when we set them free in the house. They were running around enjoying all the toys they had missed.
Now we just need to unpack - yuk.
We are certainly going to miss everyone back home. We are counting down to our next visit. Here are a few pictures from our trip home.

Hi, my name is Kim

Hi, my name is Kim and I'm an addict!!!

I really am, addicted to dollar stores that is. We hit EVERY dollar store in the vicinity. I dragged Dad to all the stores and some, more than once. I must have spent $200 on stuff - really cool stuff I might add. I am done shopping for the little stocking stuffer gifts for the kids for Christmas too. Good thing our dollar stores are not that good, I would have to sell a kidney to support my habit.

A few of us went gambling at a casino. We played the slot machines and won NOTHING!! There was 7 of us too, what are the odds. lol
Then we tried our luck with bingo............we suck at that too.

The zoo

We spent today at the Toronto zoo which is one of the largest zoos in North America. Its huge and we did TONS of walking. When we went to see the "Americas" the sign said "steep hill"....no kidding. We didn't realize that it went down for about a mile. The worst part was when we had to walk back up. Poor Bob had to push the stroller with the kids in it all the way up.

Sydney saw an ostrich and yelled "look mommy a giant chicken". That was hilarious!!!

It was really hot in the afternoon and Sharon fed the kids blue snow cones and I am still trying to get that out of their clothes. lol She compared me to Captain Von Trapp in "The Sound of Music" not letting the kids get dirty. She said if she had any curtains she would make them some play clothes.......smart ass.

Pampering

Yesterday Sharon treated me to a pedicure for my birthday so we did that and Elizabeth got a manicure. It was so nice. This was my third pedicure ever and I really enjoyed it. Its nice to be pampered every once in a while.
Sharon and I did each other's hair last night. I added some red and blonde streaks to hers and she dyed my hair red and added some blonde streaks.

The only problem is that the blonde only bleached the new red to a kind of bozo the clown red. Its only hair though and its different than what it was so I am happy.

The heat!!!!

Ok, what's going on here? We figured it would be cool here in Canada compared to Texas. Its over 100 degrees and VERY humid. Dad has no air conditioning either. We are all miserable!!

Sydney sharing some of Spencer's popsicle to cool off. How sweet huh?

We finally broke down and stayed at Sharon's for a couple of days in her a/c. We camped out in her basement rec room. The kids just loved that. We put the triplets on her sectional couch and Spencer has his own little air mattress. Bob and I shared an air mattress on the floor in the nook of the couch too. It was so nice. We were actually fighting over blankets at night as it was cold. The only problem was that babies would fall on our heads occasionally. At least we broke their falls. lol

The girls thought it was play time as they would wiggle their little fingers in Bob's face and say "blah blah blah". They would also put lights sticks they got from Grandpa in his nose and laugh hysterically. Not sure where that came from, but he thought it was hilarious.

We spent two full days in the pool too. Amazing how you can get used to freezing water when its so hot outside. We played ball and wrestled in the pool, I can't remember having that much fun swimming. So nice to have people to play with! What made it extra special is that the babies wanted someone else besides me. Shawn was throwing Peyton in the air in the pool and she was loving it, she would yell "more" even before she was down all the way. Shawn's arms were broken after about 50 times and he tried to escape. She chased him in the pool yelling "I want more Shawn". It was a riot!!!! Spencer just loved playing with Kevin and his friend Alexander. They were throwing him in the air and he loved playing rough. (Where is my baby?)
Sydney attached herself to Alexander one day and when he would take a step away she would yell "Alex" to make him come back. Caden finally got used to the fact that there were no stairs and spent all his time jumping in the pool and having us catch him.

Play date

We got together with my friend Elizabeth, her husband Ronald and their son Noah today and went to play at an indoor kids place. This is the first time she has seen the triplets and I have seen her son. He is a cutie. He is a year younger than my trio. The kids all had a ball, there was so much to do.
Later we went back to Sharon's and her and Grandpa did craft time again. They were helping the kids thread beads onto string. I am not sure who enjoyed it more.
We also played in the sprinkler in Sharon's front yard. The kids thought it was fun to soak us with the hose. It was so hot we were happy to have the cold water spraying us too. Sharon and I and the kids got into the pool since we were all wet anyway. It really wasn't as bad as I thought (it was only 82 degrees). I guess the fact that it was about a million degrees outside made it easier to get in.

Go fly a kite

We had a great day today. We went to Columbia Lake to fly kites and have a picnic. It was geat because for a change we were not out-numbered by kids...........there was more adults. Sharon, Kevin, Shawn and his girlfriend Erin joined our crew. We flew kites, played soccer (I even headed the ball once). lol
Then we had a picnic and walked around the lake to check out the Canadian geese. Kevin helped Spencer catch a frog and he was thrilled. Little Pocahontas (Peyton) had her flowery headband on for the day too.
The kids napped in the afternoon and then we had a water balloon fight in the front court. They really enjoyed that!!! Took Grandpa and Sharon an hour or more to fill balloons and only about 10 minutes for them all to be gone.
I really miss being close to family. Its so nice to be home!!!!

Bubbles

We all went out in the front court and played with bubbles the other day. The kids had a ball. Sharon got them a bubble wand that blows huge bubbles that they enjoyed chasing. Spencer must have asked her a million times "is it my turn now?"
Sharon and Grandpa entertained them with sticker books and helped them make faces. Shawn even let Spencer play with his Nintendo game cube and play donkey kong. He had a blast. Actually we all enjoyed playing it.
Grandpa got the kids some lights that they LOVE!! They insist on taking them to bed and all you can see is lights going on and off when you look through the window from outside. Its a riot and I am sure the neighbor's are wondering what is going on in there.
Bob and I tried to take the kids back to the conservation area to walk on some manicured paths, but the mosquitos ate us alive. We gave up at took them to see a covered bridge and they got to see a few Mennonites in their horse drawn carriages. They all thought that was really neat.

Play time

We have been taking the kids out every morning to different places. We took them to Victoria park on Sunday and they played in the spray yard. The water was FREEZING too!!They had a ball and didn't want to leave. They really enjoyed feeding the ducks and Sydney and Spencer let the Canadian geese take bread right out of their hands. Then they told me that the goose bit them.
Yesterday we took them to Waterloo park, it has animals that they can see and pet through the fence. Then we had popsicles and played in the playground for a while. Peyton has become attached to a headband with blue hair on it and prances around like a model showing it off to everyone. Its too cute.
Spencer has been swimming in my sister's pool everyday. Its way too cold for me....only 78 degrees. Spencer's favorite place to swim is in her hot tub though. Its 96 degrees. Our pool was 94 when we left. ha ha ha
Today we decided to take them to the Conservation area where I spent hours walking through the bush and on trails when I was younger. The trails are very rough and Peyton was NOT amused!!! Sharon called her a little princess. She hated the tall grass and wanted up the whole time so no weeds or leaves would touch her. When she did walk she would stop and push a a weed out of the way and they step past it. Then she would look behind her as she let it go to make sure it wasn't going to touch her. It was hilarious!! All the others just loved it though and ran through the tall grass and rough trails yelling in excitement.
I will have to take Peyton to the mall instead I guess. ha ha ha

Happy birthday Grandpa

Today was Grandpa's birthday. We went over to my sister's and had fish and chips and kfc for supper and cake again. Everyone enjoyed themselves and I am sure that Grandpa was really happy to have the kids here to enjoy it with him.

Happy birthday Kim

Well I am officially old................40! Had a great birthday today. Went to my sister Sharon's for a spagetti dinner with everyone. Spencer kept picking flowers in the front yard and saying "happy birthday Mommy". It was great to be "home" for my birthday!
We had a great time and ate some yummy cake.

We made it

We are in Canada now!!! We left on Thursday morning and arrived at my Dad's this afternoon (Saturday). We are all really glad to be out of the car!!!! The drive was not too bad I guess, but with 4 kids there always seemed to be someone whining. lol
We did manage to find one rest stop with a playground on the way home.
We had to share beds in the hotels and on Friday night there was 6 of us (and the dog) in two double beds. Poor little Spencer fell out of bed three times.
The weather here in Canada is great....in the 80's with no humidity.
Spencer was not shy in the least when he saw everyone. Caden acted fine and made himself at home right away. Sydney came in talking and has not stopped yet. Peyton is shy and hid her face whenever anyone tried to look at her.

The plague

Its been a while since I have posted as we have the plague. I can't think of what else it could be beside that. ha ha ha
Makes for kind of boring posts to just say that we were sick again and stayed in the house and did nothing. We did do some crafts that I am posting a picture of.

Caden started with it and then Bob and I caught it. Now I have pinkeye on top of it all. I just hope I can manage to keep that to myself. Its been awful!!! Bob seems to have recovered for the most part, I am just the holdout. Just our luck as we are leaving for Canada on Thursday.........yippee!! Just hope I don't give it to everyone at home.
Peyton woke up from her nap today with a 103 temperature!!. Is it ever going to end???

Happy 4th of July!!

Happy 4th of July to everyone!!!
It was raining and cloudy here on the 4th so that kind of cancelled our plans for a swim party and bbq before the fireworks. We had a good day considering Caden was sick and miserable for a good part of the day. He didn't nap and made sure that no one else did either. We made some home made sparklers out of pipe cleaners for the kids. Just put some metalic pipe cleaners in a straw and fanned them out. They loved them.........well Caden didn't want the "sparkler" parts and just ran around with an empty straw :) They had some homemade milkshakes too that they loved. We went to the mall by us to watch the fireworks. The kids were screaming with excitement when the fireworks started. It was just raining a little at that point so not too bad. They were really tired when they came home and went straight to bed around 10:30. We woke them up early to go see "Sponge Bob Square Pants the Movie" this morning. Bob took the day off. They were really good again and enjoyed the movie.
I think I now have whatever Caden had unfortunately. Lets just hope everyone doesn't get it!!!

Kemah

We took the kids to Kemah last night with Queta our sister-in-law and our neice Rebecca. It was fun and the kids really enjoyed it. Its a boardwalk on Galveston Bay. They liked looking at the boats and feeding the fish. They played in the spray yard and went on a train ride too. We also stayed and watched some fireworks. We really need more shoulders to put the kids on so they can see. lol We were eaten alive my mosquitos though, it was awful. We kept fanning the kids with towels to keep the mosquitos away. Caden got the worst of if and his legs are really biten up bad as well as his ear.

First movie for the triplets

Today the triplets went to their very first movie. We went and saw Robots (re-released). It was a challenge and I was not sure how they would do. I am so proud of them. They did amazing. Peyton was a little scared of all the people at first, but once the movie started she was fine. I took juice and little baggies full of cheerios and goldfish for snacks. They sat in little booster seats in the chairs so they could see better.
Caden just kept looking at me for the first five minutes and saying "robots mommy!!!!. Its his favorite show.
I would definitley take them again, we all had fun!

Bye bye cast

Peyton got to take the cast off her arm for good today. I was a bit worried how she would do as she would come and tell me to put it back on when I took it off for baths. I had her throw it in the garbage and say "bye bye cast". Spencer actually took it off for her with the other two standing right there looking to see what was going on. It was really cute that they were concerned about her. Her little wrist is stiff, but there is no stopping her.
Now if we can just keep her from getting anymore broken bones we will have it made!!!

Good Friends

We had a ball this weekend. Our friend Beth came over on Friday and Saturday and swam with us all day. Then Sunday our friends Jan and Steve and their neice Cate came to play in the pool. Unfortunately we didn't ALL get together at the same time. We hadn't seem them in a while, but the kids took to them quickly and were all over them in the pool.
It was a GREAT weekend.

Happy Father's day

We had a quiet day at home today. The kids and I made a t-shirt for Daddy with their hand prints on it. He wanted spagetti for supper that we all enjoyed too.
I think that he is still in shock that he has 4 kids.
We have given him lots of extra hugs and kisses to show him that he is the best Daddy in the world.
We appreciate all you do and love you!!!
