Happy birthday Daddy

We spent the whole day together today to celebrate. The kids all made him homemade cards and helped to wrap and unwrap his present. The kids decided that Daddy needed to go to Chuck E Cheese to celebrate. We had a pizza lunch and played some games. We let Daddy pick where he wanted supper so we went to Los Cucos, our favorite Mexican restaurant.
Spencer made sure that the waiter knew it was his Dad's birthday so they would sing happy birthday and smear whipped cream in his face, while weraing a sombrero. That was the highlight of the day for Bob.
We came home and had cake and ice cream and sang happy birthday again. The kids were just thrilled with the candles on the cake.......yes all 43 of them. Caden wanted to light them again and again.

Soccer

Spencer is really enjoying soccer this year. His friend Tanner from preschool is on his team and they are both thrilled.
He understands the game more this year, he is not laying in the field picking flowers. ha ha ha
The coach is even teaching them how to hit the ball with their heads.

I get to go to his practices on Friday nights. Bob takes him to his games on Saturdays (yet another reason I hate working weekends.)
At least I get to see his practices.

Swimming

The triplets got to play in the baby pool today. The water is still too cold in the big one, but not for long. They had a ball, splashing and jumping. Poor little Spencer missed out as he was in preschool.Peyton was not amused at Caden splashing and kept "telling" on him.
I had to bring pots of hot water from inside to add as the water from the hose was too cold.

Fun at the park

I took the kids to the park this morning to feed the ducks and play on the jungle gym. We even found a rolly polly bug which was the highlight.

Peyton was not amused as a duck "bit" her. It actually took bread out of her hand. She talked about it forever too.
Later Daddy came with us to Ellis pond with the dog and we threw the ball into the water for him. He got tired and would just leave the ball in the water too far for us to reach so we couldn't throw it anymore. ha ha ha

Spring has sprung

I took the kids to the zoo yesterday as Bob was working late. That is the first time I have gone and not met someone there later. They did great and I would take them anytime.
I have a cold and felt awful, but Caden kept asking to go (came up with the idea on his own too). Figured it would be easier to entertain them there than to come up with something at home.

They got a little tired near the end though as I only brought the single umbrella stroller. They had big discussions about who's turn it was to get into it next.
As you can see the azaleas are blooming and just gorgeous!!!

I can do it!!!

Caden learned how to pedal his bike today. He has been flinstoning it on his big wheels for ages now. He is so proud of himself. I can't believe how fast they are growing up. Soon we will all be bike riding together instead of towing them behind us.
I have finally joined you tube so check out the video of Caden riding his bike. Just click the arrow in the center and it will play.

Shiner

Caden has a doozy of a shiner now. Its not showing up in the pictures to be as dark as it actually is.
He was on the rocking horse in Spencer's room a couple of days ago and rocked it too far and fell forward into a dresser. It immediately swelled up and turned black. Now its spread and given him a black eye.

Cute little bruiser though.

Rodeo time

We took the kids to the Rodeo yesterday and they had a ball.
We wandered through the children's area and saw all the animals. They enjoyed the petting zoo and even saw a kangaroo.
Spencer, Sydney and Peyton volunteered to play tambourine with a singer and did really well. They were all very proud of themselves and I thought they were just too cute!!!!
We also saw the pig races and Spencer was our sections cheer leader and our pig won. He got a prize too, a little pig key chain that looks like its pooping when you squeeze it. YUK
We did the midway after supper and the little ones were just running around saying "mommy look at this". We took them on a couple big rides and they did well. Caden did not enjoy the water roller coaster thing though. Halfway down the big hill he was yelling "all done, all done". I was thinking the same thing myself. ha
They all fell asleep on the way home and barely woke up to get changed and in to bed.

I'm so tired

Poor little Sydney just couldn't stay awake for one more minute. I had just picked up Spencer from preschool and figured I would check my e-mail quickly and let the kids wind down for a minute before nap time. I looked down at my feet and there she was - sound asleep. She barely woke up when I took her upstairs.

I am so going to miss these days when they are grown up. They are already growing up WAY too fast.

Monkey

Here is Spencer climbing our pecan tree in the backyard. Caden will not be far behind him I am sure as he is already climbing onto the counter and standing there to get a glass for himself.

Boys will be boys.

Dime store cowboy

It was western day at Spencer's preschool today. I managed to find some stuff around the house to make him look kind of like a cowboy. The boots are hand-me-downs and are about 3 sizes too big, but he didn't mind. He is still wearing the get up and loves it.
Yeehaw!!!

Mardi Gras

We took the kids to Galveston for Mardi Gras today. We watched two parades, an animal parade and then the children's parade. I was hoping they would each get one bead necklace so they wouldn't feel bad......we ended up with over two hundred necklaces, bracelets and toys. They had a blast. Spencer got right into it jumping and yelling "beads please". Peyton would yell in her best exorcism voice "don't touch my beads!!!!" if anyone would dare to touch a necklace that she saw land. Didn't matter where it landed, it was HERS if she saw it. We had some awesome kids beside us that were helping mine gather beads, it was so nice of them and I hope my kids can be as nice when they get older!!!
After the parades we went on the Bolivar ferry in Galveston. The kids loved that too, we even saw a carnival cruise ship.
It was just a perfect day!

Family picture

Just wanted to share our family picture.

Basketball

I didn't have to work today so I got to go and see Spencer play basketball at the YMCA.
He is just growing up too fast. He did really well shooting hoops. You really need to see him dribble to appreciate it, it's funny. He doesn't quite have the coordination to dribble and walk at the same time. This is his first time to play basketball and he seems to like it.

I'm so pretty!

Caden found my lipstick and decided to wear it......all over his face. I took him into the bathroom to wash it off and he saw himself in the mirror and lost it. He kept crying and telling me that he needed a bandaid. It was hilarious!!!!

Happy Valentine's Day

I hope everyone has a wonderful Valentine's day. Spencer asked me if I would be his Valentine, it was so sweet and just made my day!!!!

To all my chilly northern friends............na na na na boo boo!!!!

Its was over 80 degrees warmer here yesterday than where my Sister Sharon is in Canada.
We were out riding big wheel tricycles in short sleeves and were comfortable. We went to the zoo too and had a ball, we were even HOT walking around. People always ask me how I stand the heat down here and my answer is............"I don't have to shovel the heat".
I had all the windows opened, it was gorgeous!!!
I am so glad we are getting some nice weather, I hate the cold. (even though our cold here is nothing to complain about)
I hope everyone stays warm and that summer comes to everyone soon!!!!

To stand or not to stand???

Caden decided a few days ago that he was going to stand and pee. I was hoping that would not come for a while yet. Now when he hears a noise or you say something he will turn to look and just keeps peeing.
Sydney thinks thats its pretty cool to be able to stand and pee and wants to do it too. We keep having talks about how only boys can pee standing up because boys have penises and girls have vaginas. She was not happy with that and told me that she does not have a vagina and she has a penis too. Now they get into conversations amongst themselves about who has a penis and who has a vagina, its HILARIOUS!! I have caught her standing a couple of times, but so far she hasn't peed on herself. lol
Gotta love kids.
By the way.........still NO accidents. They are even waking up from naps and in the morning dry sometimes.

We're potty trained!!!

We have been potty training since last Saturday and they have done really well. They have been ready for ages, but Mommy was the hold out. I HATE potty training and would rather they trained themselves when they moved away to college. That said, they are done and it was relatively painless :)

Sydney took only three days, Peyton four days and Caden six days and they have had no accidents since. We started with potty chairs and moved to the big toilet within a couple of days. I don't even have to remind them now, they know when to go. I didn't use any rewards like candy or stickers as then I would have to train them not to expect that. They are too funny, whenever they poop they have to make you come and look and then proceed to tell you what type of animal it looks like.
They are so proud of themselves when they go on the potty. We have done many poopy and pee on the potty dances too.
Now we just need to contend with visiting EVERY bathroom in Houston when we go out.

Its freezing

Its been really cold down here in Texas and last night and today we have had freezing rain and sleet. The temperature has been below freezing and in the 20's with the wind chill.

We got up this morning to a layer of ice on everything. We let the kids go out and scrape my car with an ice scraper I still had from my days in Canada (not sure why I still had it?) They thought it was fun, but were complaining of cold hands.
We stayed in where it was safe and snuggled by the fire.

Dr's appointment

All the kids went for their well child check ups today, I figure they may as well all go at once.
The doctor thought they were all doing great and growing the way they should. All was going well until it was time for the dreaded needles. They were all running away from me and yelling that is was someone else's turn, it was funny. Peyton went first and did really well, then Caden was the next in line. He also did great, but wanted Daddy as soon as it was done because mean ole Mommy held his arms while he got the needle. Then I grabbed Sydney and pulled her pants down and sat her on the table. She had already pulled them up in the second it took me to sit her on the table and was yelling "no, don't want it, don't like it!!!!" Needless to say she was not amused by the whole process.
Spencer was last and was still insisting he was NOT getting a needle. He was so mad even after it was done, he was telling me through his tears "I told you I didn't want a needle and you MADE me have one!!!" I felt so bad!!!
He even admitted it didn't hurt anymore, but that didn't matter.
We took them for frozen yogurt afterwards and then strolled through the park. We were down by the children's museum and figured we would go in for a little bit. We were cautious as that is where Caden got rotovirus from last spring. I think I used half the bottle of purel on their little hands when we left.
When we got home and undressed them they were all pointing out their boo boos and then started chanting and marching "no more boo boo's, no more boo boo's" All they needed were little picket signs, it was so cute.
Here are their heights and weights.

Spencer
43 lbs (75%)
45 inches (90%)

Caden
37 lbs (95%)
41 inches(90%)

Peyton
35 lbs (90%)
38 1/4 inches (75%)

Sydney
29 1/2 lbs (50%)
37 inches (50%)

Happy New Year

We went over to Bob's brother's last night to celebrate. The plan was for me to come home early with the kids and put them to bed. They were having way too much fun to leave. Queta had set up a dance floor in the livingroom complete with disco ball and lazers on the floor. Peyton is my little party animal, she hardly sat down all night. She danced with everyone and loved to be twirled!! Bob and James set off some fireworks before midnight to entertain the kids, they just loved them. They all had sparklers too (which made mommy VERY nervous). Peyton didn't want anything to do with them, she would tell you "no fire!"
Poor little Spencer was the the only one to fall asleep about 10 minutes before midnight :( I could not wake him up even though I tried.
We had some food to eat and then headed for home. They were all asleep in the car when we got home around 2am and didn't even wake up when we took them to bed. I just stripped off their pants, socks and shoes and put them to bed. The next morning Spencer woke up and was upset that he didn't have his pajamas on.

I hope all your wishes come true in this new year!!!
