Ice cream anyone?

I decided to take the kids to the Blue Bell creamery for a factory tour today. Unfortunately its spring break and EVERYONE else had the same idea too. You think I would have learned to stay home during spring break.
We got there and they told us it would be a 2 and 1/2 hour wait and that they couldn't even guarantee we would get in if we waited that long. I was NOT waiting that long to see it if I never did. We got some ice cream, watched the video of how its made and looked around. I don't think the kids cared that we didn't go in.

We had a picnic in the park and then stopped and took some pictures in the bluebonnets on the way home. There was also a nice field of some yellow flower that I made them pose in too. I am really glad I let them eat chocolate ice cream before I took their pictures....... good thing there's photoshop.

Day out at some parks

Just think this picture of Spencer and Peyton in the playground is really cute.

Took the kids to a couple of neighbourhood parks today. We had a picnic, fed the ducks, played on the playground and swings and just had a ball. The girls and I made a stew of dirt and grass while the boys drove our spaceship (the playground) and battled aliens. Then we went for a walk and explored the planet we landed on. I just love kids imaginations.

We came home and got Bob and our bikes and went riding on some dirt bike hills. Peyton was a little nervous, but did fine. Caden is my dare-devil and did GREAT, even with his training wheels.

Then we went for another walk in the bush looking for deer. The kids were so noisy I'm sure the nearest deer was 5 miles away.

The kids enjoyed playing soccer with their glow in the dark ball before we came home too.

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

I hope everyone has a great day!
We built a leprechaun trap yesterday in hopes of catching one. I told the kids if we caught one he would have to tell us where his pot of gold is. They made an awesome trap and painted and drew some pictures to attract the leprechauns. I helped them decorate a box and make a trap door at the top. They made a homemade ladder out of popsicle sticks they painted for the leprechauns to climb up on the trap too.
Much to their surprise this morning there was NO leprechaun in their trap. They had been here though and were very mischevious too. They moved our ladder to write grafitti on the stove and dishwasher, turned our milk and jello green, left green confetti all over the kitchen floor and took the gold beads we had used for bait. Sydney is mad because one of the "little guys" wrote "You'll NEVER catch us" on her picture.
Then when the kids went to the bathroom and lifted the lid they noticed that the leprechauns had written on the toilet lid as well. The kids thought it was hilarious and can't wait to build a better trap next year to catch one.
We are going to have green eggs and ham for supper tonight as well. That was Spencer's idea and he can hardly wait.

EDITED TO ADD:
Apparently the leprechaUns are not only sneaky, but illiterate as well. They couldn't even spell leprechaun correctly.
They must have been really tired. lol

Close up of their little trap.

Go Texan Day again

Today was Spencer's turn for Go Texan Day at school. He was very excited and looked very handsome. He had to make a cage for some farm animals and take it to school for his project. He told me that he won second place and brought home a little paper ribbon. They rotated classes and got to play some games and pretend to milk a cow. Great way to start of his spring break.
Does the outfit look a little familiar? lol

It seems all I have posted about lately is Go Texan day and missing teeth. lol

Another one

Spencer lost another tooth today, at this rate he will be totally toothless in no time. It was his other top tooth in the front. Now he is missing them both and couldn't get any cuter if he tried!! The kids were playing in our bouncy house outside and he came running to show me his tooth. Turns out Peyton knocked it out!!! It was an accident, she banged her head in to his face while jumping. I laughed and told him to wait til his friends found out his little sister knocked his tooth out.
The tooth fairy is going to have to declare bankruptsy soon if this keeps up.

Here he is telling me all about it.

Go Texan Day

Today was "cowboy day" at the triplets daycare. I had forgotten so had to scramble to get some western gear in the morning. They were really excited and I think they looked adorable!!

Its finally out

Spencer's two front teeth have been loose for MONTHS. When I took him to the dentist last month he said he would pull them if they were still there next time. Spencer is just not a wiggler so I have been after him to wiggle them ever since.

Yesterday morning one of his front teeth was so loose it was almost sideways and just barely in. He tried to pull it with his fingers and couldn't do it so I asked him if I could try. It was so loose it came out with hardly any pressure. He is happy and absolutely adorable. Caden is freaking out saying he doesn't want his teeth to come out and is traumatized by the whole ordeal. lol
Today I asked him what his teacher said and he told me she asked what the tooth fairy had brought him. He informed her that his Mom wouldn't let him put his tooth under his pillow.
I worked yesterday so by the time I got home he was in bed asleep and HIS FATHER is the meany that wouldn't let him put it under his pillow. He thought that I would want to help him do that? I didn't want to put it under while he was asleep as that is the fun part. We waited and did it tonight at bedtime. She left him a five dollar bill (all that we had lol) and some fluoride mouth rinse and a note in teeny tiny writing.
I am sure his teacher is wondering what kind of mother the poor child has.

If Spencer looks half asleep in the first picture its because he WAS. It was only 5am and I had just gotten him up, they have to get up REALLY early when I work :(

Good bye

Our wonderful dog Androculese passed away suddenly last night. He was 10 years old and we have no idea what happened. He came in from outside and laid down and then could not get up. Bob had to carry him to the car to take him to the emergency vet. He had a seizure there and some of his labs were abnormal. No signs of poisoning so it was something endocrine or a brain tumor? He died an hour an a half after we woke up to take him outside.
It happed in the middle of the night so I did not tell Spencer before school. He did not need to be upset all day. The little ones were sad and said they would miss him.
Spencer came home from school and Caden ran out to the bus and told him "our dog died". I could not believe it. Spencer didn't believe him and I had to tell him it was true. He burst in to tears and cried for 5 or 10 minutes. Then a few more times throughout the evening he would start to cry. He said he is really going to miss him this summer when we go swimming. Androculese spent the whole summer in the pool chasing balls and pulling the kids around when they grabbed on to him.
We are still in shock and will miss him terribly.
We had to put our 17 year old cat Piphy to sleep last spring so this has been a really hard year with pets. She was the sweetest siamese cat you would ever have seen.
This is the first time in my life I have had no pets and it just feels so strange.
We told the kids that Androculese was in Heaven and they started asking questions like...........where is Heaven and how do you get there. Sydney answered that one and told them that you walk to Heaven on a rainbow. I thought that was just SO SWEET.
They were mad at God when Piphy died though. I told them that she was in Heaven with God and they said that God needed to get his OWN cat and give ours back.

Monkey pox

Spencer has molluscum contagiousum. Figuring you can guess how contagious it is by the name. He has had it for months and we had no idea what it was. Started out thinking it was a skin tag and then it spread so thought maybe warts. When it continued to spread I figured we better take him to the dermatologist before he turned in to the elephant man. I have no idea how the other kids did not catch it as they still bathe together??? Luckily its under his arm and its he wears a shirt all the time in winter.
They burned it off with "beetle pee" as Spencer called it. It was stinging beetle venom I think. Bob had to take him as I was working. He did really well and we hope it goes away soon. Its in the poxvirus family so Bob has been telling him he has monkey pox.

Mardis Gras

We took the kids to Galveston yesterday for Mardis Gras. There was a pet (Krewe of Barkus and Meoux Mardi Gras) parade and children's parade so it was not too rowdy. I love the name of the pet parade! They had a ball and caught lots of beads. Peyton was whining because she did not catch a little stuffed toy. I think she will survive though. Caden is just too sweet and whenever someone else would grab for the same bead he would always let go and let them have it. Then of course he would whine to me. lol They were too cute with their little arms up waving for beads. They told me that they want to be IN the parade next year and throw the beads.
We took them on a ferry ride afterwards and they really enjoyed that. We even managed NOT to get pooped on by the million seagulls soaring overheard.
We need to go down there more often.
We walked on to the beach to watch the waves for a few minutes too.
Its getting back to normal after the hurricane, but you can still see lots of damage.

Fun day

Spencer had a day off school today so we spent the time together. He came grocery shopping with me then to his dentist appointment. (He did great and has no cavities. The dentist told him to start wiggling his two front teeth though or he will have to pull them next time we go. They have been loose for ages now and he is just not a wiggler. They are starting to stick out they are so loose too.)
I told him the rest of the day was HIS. He decided he wanted to go to Incredible Pizza. We haven't been there in a while so it sounded fun. We ate TONS of food and then played some games. We bowled and had a round of lazer tag. It was so much fun. He is a really nice boy and fun to be with. Not only do I adore my little boy, but I "LIKE" him and he is so much fun to hang out with. He is so funny and has a great personality.
Don't you just love how he throws the ball in bowling, what great form. lol
Bob met us after work with the three little ones and he and Spencer went on the go-carts. This was the first time for Spencer and he did great. Bob took Caden in the same car with him and he really enjoyed that. The girls and I played air hockey.

whoo hoo

Spencer learned to ride his two wheeler Friday. I thought he was actually going to get his driver's licence before he could ride one though. ;)
He was too scared to do it with Bob as he let him fall in a bush once!!! (big meaner as the kids say)
I promised him that I would not let go and he relaxed and was able to do it with me just running down the street a few times holding on. I thought for sure I would not be able to walk today with a sore back, but its actually just a bit sore. The physical therapy must be working :) After he did it a couple times with me not holding on and just running alongside he was ok with Daddy running down the street beside him. I don't think Daddy was ok with it though. That is Sydney chanting and cheering him on in the video.

He was so proud of himself and immediately asked for his new bike. I had told him before Christmas if he learned to ride on his own he could have a new bike. He has always had garage sale ones so far. I figured a little bribe might help motivate him. He did NOT forget and already knows what he wants. I told him he needs to be able to get on and off on his own and then we will go shopping. He needs you to push him to get him started and is a bit wobbly until he gets going. Poor little Caden happened to be in his way a couple of time and he ran right over him and knocked him off his bike. I tried to be a good Mommy and not laugh, but it was really hard.
We all went for a bike ride today. We had Daddy so we actually got the kite in the air at the park. Caden rode his bike with his training wheels and so did Peyton. Sydney wanted to hitch a ride with Mommy.
I KNEW that Peyton would get tired and want a ride too!!! The two girls AND the bike ended up in my bike trailer. lol
While we were in the field flying our kite Spencer saw a drainage pipe that lead down to the bayou. He thought it was really neat and ran down to see the other end where it came out at the bottom. While he was down there we were talking to each other through the pipe. Bob came up and I told him to talk to his son. He assumed that he had crawled down the pipe and was yelling at him to "get back up here RIGHT NOW!!!!" It was a pretty steep drop and there would have been no way for him to climb up if he had crawled down. I was laughing and he finally realized that he was not IN the pipe, but at the other end. I should have played along a bit longer. He said he was ready to get the phone and call 911. I wish I had the video camera running or at least a picture of his face!
We rode to the park and played there for a while too. We all got on the slides together and came down in a big clump. The kids LOVE doing that. I am sure the other parents think we are nuts, but who cares.

Hilarious

The little ones started "tiny tots" basketball today. They whined and wanted to play every time we went to Spencer's practices or games. They did really well and had a ball.
At the end the coaches let them scrimmage and try to play a "game". I thought I was going to crack up. Caden got the ball and took off with it. He was running as fast as he could to get away from the other kids and not let them take the ball. He ran in to the other court to get around them and get back to the net. All the parents were yelling "dribble...dribble" as he was just running like a football quarterback trying to get a touchdown. I can't believe I actually had the camera going for that. He is the one in the beige running with the ball.

Caden's day with Mommy

I sent everyone else to school and daycare today and kept Caden home with me. He has never had a day with just the two of us. I wanted to spoil him rotten and give him ALL my attention for a change. He got to decide what we did all day too.
We started by going to the park to feed the ducks and play on the swings. We sat on the dock and fed the ducks for about 30 minutes and had a ball. I love to feed the ducks as much as the kids do.
He made me swing with him and it was fun, I haven't done that in ages.
Then we headed to Chuck E Cheeses to play games. He was thrilled that I followed him around and played with him. We even played a couple games together. He got us on the roller coaster simulator thing and we had to try all 6 of the different rides. My head is still vibrating.
Then we headed to Los Cucos for lunch. He LOVES the chips and cheese there. After we stuffed ourselves we came home and went for a bike ride to the park. And yes, we changed in to shorts as it was hot. Eat your heart out snow dwellers. lol
We stopped and tried to fly a kite in a big field on the way, but his mother is retarded and could NOT get the kite in the air despite the strong breeze. This will have to be a job for Daddy.
We came home and played Mariokart for a few minutes then went outside and flew a styrofoam airplane in the front yard while we waited for Spencer to get off the bus.
He had so much fun today, he never stopped smiling. I asked a few times if he wanted to go and get the girls and he immediately said NO and that it was HIS day. It was so nice to just spend some one on one time with my little man.
Sydney said she missed him all day at school and Peyton said she did too, but only when I asked her. lol
