Choo choo

We took the kids to the Houston Area Live Steamers park for free train rides today, they just loved it. They have model steam engines and electric trains large enough to ride on. They are really small and you straddle the seats. Caden is just enamoured with trains lately so it was perfect for him. While we were riding on one, he asked me where Thomas the train was...how cute!
As soon as we finished the ride he immediately wanted to go again. How can you say no to someone so cute. So we waited in line and rode them one more time. They have little model houses to look at on the way and Peyton announced we were coming up to a bridge each time we crossed one.

Pre-kindergarten graduation

Spencer had his last day of preschool today and he starts kindergarten in the fall. They had a little recital at his preschool on Tuesday evening and they got up on stage and sang a song, he was so cute. (he is the one on the far left) Then the ones that were going to kindergarten next year walked across the stage and received their little diplomas while wearing caps. It was just adorable.

The plague

Ok, I know I have not updated in a long time.....I have had the plague!! It all started a few weeks ago when Spencer got the flu and then everyone else got it too despite the flu shots. Poor Spencer had it the worst though. Then just when I thought I was recovering I got tonsillitis, double ear infections and the worse case of pink eye ever. My left eye was almost swollen shut. I'll spare you the gooey pictures. lol Bob had to take most of last week off to look after the kids. I haven't been that sick in 10 or 12 years (the last time I had tonisilitis) Well its been over a week and a half and I am on my second round of antibiotics, but I finally think I will live.
The night before the plague hit Bob and I went out alone again. The kids went to Saturday Night Live and enjoyed it. Bob and I went out for dinner and shooting at an indoor gun range. I haven't done that in years and even then only once or twice in my whole life. Gotta love Texas. ha

Sneaky

I had already made 15 trips upstairs to yell and tell the little ones to lay down and go to sleep for their nap. It was quiet so I figured it would be safe to check my e-mail..........NOT.Peyton snuck out of bed very quietly and got into my lipstick. Not only lipstick, but a tube of that green lip stain. Ok, I know what everyone is thinking......why do I still have that. My friend Elizabeth had to point that out and say "the 80's called and they want their lipstick back." lol Such a good friend huh? Well not only did she apply it liberally to her whole mouth, but also to my carpet and a pair of Bob's shorts. I had already washed her face before I took this picture. Do you think it will wear off by the time she starts Kindergarten??
Then the little angel promptly fell asleep on the couch. Making messes is exhausting!!!

Swim class

Peyton, Sydney and Caden started swim class today at the YMCA. They pretty much filled the class too. ha The other two kids in their class are Spencer's best friend Tanner and his little sister.
They did amazing, I was worried they may not want to go with the swim teacher - especially Caden as he is really shy. They couldn't wait for their turn.

Click here to watch us in action

Poor little Spencer had to miss his swim class today as he is so sick. He has been sick to his stomach and had a temperature of 105.4 a couple of hours ago. You can't keep a kid down though. He broke his fever and is up playing. I wish I could be that resilient. I think I am on the mend now, I was sick as a dog yesterday at work. I joked that I was sicker than the patients I was looking after. It was the longest 12 hours of my life.

Another job

Why is it that for someone who does not want to have ANY jobs I now have two???
I went for my orientation today at another hospital while Bob took the day off to stay with the kids. Just how he wanted to spend one of his vacation days I am sure.
I love my sister's line "I married for love the first time, if I ever get married again my new husband's first name will be YOUR and his last name will be HIGHNESS." Bob doesn't think its as funny as I do though. ha ha ha
When I came home we went out for dinner and a movie with the kids. It was a really cool place called Studio Movie Grill and you can eat while watching the movie. The fact that I had coupons for free admission for ALL of us was a huge bonus too. Click here for a link to the coupon, print as many as you like. Sorry, only in Houston at their Copperfield location and they expire on Thursday.
We saw "Meet The Robinsons" and we all enjoyed it. The food was delicious too.
Two movies in less than a week........pretty good for people who never go to the movies. Oh this is the life with my King!

lizard

We were on our way out to the park this morning and Spencer saw a lizard in our bushes.
He already had his bug keeper in his hands so I figured I would try and catch him. I didn't think I would be fast enough, but the kids were thrilled when he was a captive prisoner.
They all wanted to pet him. Imagine how thrilled he was to have 4 kids petting him. If we had listened closely we probably would have heard little lizard screams. lol
We only kept him for a few minutes and then let him go "to see his Mommy" and headed off to the park. We spent the day there feeding the ducks and playing on the jungle gym. We packed a lunch and made a day of it.

A date!!

Bob and I got to go on a real date last night and it was wonderful. All the kids went to "Saturday Night Live" at the YMCA. We dropped them off at 6pm and picked them up at shortly before 11pm. They were pretty good about staying. Peyton wanted me to come to the back with her and Caden looked at me and said "I go with you?". That made leaving harder, but they didn't cry so it was ok. They really had fun though and told me all about it when we picked them up. Spencer was the only one sleeping when we got there.
We went out to a movie that I would NOT recommend called "300". Four people actually walked out of the theater while it was still on. Its been over 5 years since we went to a movie together and it was a bad one :( We didn't have time for dinner before the movie so we just ate tons of junk in the theater.
We have the kids booked for another evening at the Y in a couple of weeks.

Earlier in the day we went to Spencer's soccer game and then to see "The Berenstain Bears" at Miller outdoor theater. The kids really enjoyed that. Caden lost interest and tried to lay down in his seat. Sydney never took her eyes off the stage. Peyton was clapping right along with everyone and giving me a play by play of what was happening. In one scene the bears broke their Mama's lamp and Spencer put his hands over his ears when Mama walked in and saw it. Do you think I yell at them too much??? lol

Child labor laws?

I was doing the supper dishes last night and Spencer decided he wanted to help. By all means!!!!! He did a pretty good job washing the dishes too and thoroughly enjoyed it. I wonder how long that will last, not long enough I am sure.
Now I just need to train the other three to dust, vacuum and scrub the toilets and I can be the princess I long to be. lol

Happy Easter

I hope everyone had a wonderful Easter. We had a great day!
The kids woke up to eggs and candy and a few presents "hidden" all over the livingroom. They had a ball collecting all the goodies. Peyton ran around gasping and shouting "look Mommy....princess underwear" ect. Yes, they got underwear for Easter. lol
We had a turkey dinner with candied yams, and squash casserole for dinner. Caden had french fries as he is so picky!!! I figured it was only fair to give him something he really liked too.
After dinner we decorated Easter eggs. Yes I know a little late, but better late than never.
Then they got to eat some of their chocolate bunnies.

Enjoy a photoshow of our day.

Another Easter egg hunt

We went to our neighbourhood Easter egg hunt today. It was FREEZING and started raining while we were there. It was only 40 degrees, big change from yesterday. There was even steam coming off the pool.
The kids had fun despite the weather. I think their favorite part was getting to hold a real bunny.
Then we went to Walmart to get some groceries and the Easter bunny was there posing for pictures so we had to do that again.

Swimming

Spencer was begging to go swimming in the big pool today so I caved and let him get in. The water was only 74 degrees so I knew he wouldn't stay long. Bob was cleaning the pool and lost his balance and fell in. Needless to say he was NOT happy. I wish I had the camera in my hands to film that, it was hilarious. Of course the triplets woke up from their nap early because of all the commotion in the backyard. They all got in and played on the steps too. I did NOT get in, I'm waiting for 85 degrees or warmer water, I am a wimp.

Drip drip drip

We have a leak!!!
Bob noticed the ceiling in the kitchen was damp looking the other day. Then yesterday while the kids were eating breakfast Spencer announces that the house is dripping, he was right.
Water was dripping from the ceiling onto my computer!!! My cupboards were full of water and so were my under counter lights. I was NOT amused.
Bob found the leak and it was the shower faucet leaking BEHIND the tile wall. Could the water be in a worse place. Thank you Jim (my brother-in-law) for the advice. He is a plumber, unfortunately in Canada though. We have decided not to tear down the ceiling and to put a fan on it and see if it dries and then just repair the damage. We needed a way to get the wall behind the shower dry though so instead of ripping down the tile to let air in there we cut some holes in the triplets bedroom wall as it backs onto the bathroom. Caden has already banged his crib into the wall numerous times making small holes. Of course those holes were no where near where we needed them to be. The kids thought that was just the coolest thing and had to help Daddy. Now if I can just keep them out of the holes until it dries that will be great.
And yes, Spencer's hair ALWAYS sticks up like that unless I wet it down. ha ha ha

Kindergarten round up

I registered Spencer for kindergarten this morning. It was very traumatic, at least for me. I can't believe that my baby is growing up this fast. He was totally unphased by it all. I don't know what I will do without him home next year???
I can only imagine what the first day of school is going to be like? I don't want to even think about it right now. Do you think the teacher would notice me hiding under his desk? lol

Easter egg hunt

We went to my local multiples group Easter egg hunt today. It was canceled yesterday due to rain. It was great, the kids loved it. Sydney was totally enamoured with the bunny and I could not tear her away. She kept telling me that the bunny had glasses on and I told her that "no those are his eyes". She corrected me and said "no, under his helmet Mommy". Kids are just so observant!!!
They got lots of eggs and had their fill of candy.
The best part was that there were NO broken bones. It was at this egg hunt that Peyton broke her leg last year.
And yes, Sydney has her dress hiked up to her waist in one of the pictures as the ground was still a bit wet and she didn't want to get her dress dirty. lol

Happy birthday Daddy

We spent the whole day together today to celebrate. The kids all made him homemade cards and helped to wrap and unwrap his present. The kids decided that Daddy needed to go to Chuck E Cheese to celebrate. We had a pizza lunch and played some games. We let Daddy pick where he wanted supper so we went to Los Cucos, our favorite Mexican restaurant.
Spencer made sure that the waiter knew it was his Dad's birthday so they would sing happy birthday and smear whipped cream in his face, while weraing a sombrero. That was the highlight of the day for Bob.
We came home and had cake and ice cream and sang happy birthday again. The kids were just thrilled with the candles on the cake.......yes all 43 of them. Caden wanted to light them again and again.

Soccer

Spencer is really enjoying soccer this year. His friend Tanner from preschool is on his team and they are both thrilled.
He understands the game more this year, he is not laying in the field picking flowers. ha ha ha
The coach is even teaching them how to hit the ball with their heads.

I get to go to his practices on Friday nights. Bob takes him to his games on Saturdays (yet another reason I hate working weekends.)
At least I get to see his practices.

Swimming

The triplets got to play in the baby pool today. The water is still too cold in the big one, but not for long. They had a ball, splashing and jumping. Poor little Spencer missed out as he was in preschool.Peyton was not amused at Caden splashing and kept "telling" on him.
I had to bring pots of hot water from inside to add as the water from the hose was too cold.

Fun at the park

I took the kids to the park this morning to feed the ducks and play on the jungle gym. We even found a rolly polly bug which was the highlight.

Peyton was not amused as a duck "bit" her. It actually took bread out of her hand. She talked about it forever too.
Later Daddy came with us to Ellis pond with the dog and we threw the ball into the water for him. He got tired and would just leave the ball in the water too far for us to reach so we couldn't throw it anymore. ha ha ha

Spring has sprung

I took the kids to the zoo yesterday as Bob was working late. That is the first time I have gone and not met someone there later. They did great and I would take them anytime.
I have a cold and felt awful, but Caden kept asking to go (came up with the idea on his own too). Figured it would be easier to entertain them there than to come up with something at home.

They got a little tired near the end though as I only brought the single umbrella stroller. They had big discussions about who's turn it was to get into it next.
As you can see the azaleas are blooming and just gorgeous!!!

I can do it!!!

Caden learned how to pedal his bike today. He has been flinstoning it on his big wheels for ages now. He is so proud of himself. I can't believe how fast they are growing up. Soon we will all be bike riding together instead of towing them behind us.
I have finally joined you tube so check out the video of Caden riding his bike. Just click the arrow in the center and it will play.

Shiner

Caden has a doozy of a shiner now. Its not showing up in the pictures to be as dark as it actually is.
He was on the rocking horse in Spencer's room a couple of days ago and rocked it too far and fell forward into a dresser. It immediately swelled up and turned black. Now its spread and given him a black eye.

Cute little bruiser though.

Rodeo time

We took the kids to the Rodeo yesterday and they had a ball.
We wandered through the children's area and saw all the animals. They enjoyed the petting zoo and even saw a kangaroo.
Spencer, Sydney and Peyton volunteered to play tambourine with a singer and did really well. They were all very proud of themselves and I thought they were just too cute!!!!
We also saw the pig races and Spencer was our sections cheer leader and our pig won. He got a prize too, a little pig key chain that looks like its pooping when you squeeze it. YUK
We did the midway after supper and the little ones were just running around saying "mommy look at this". We took them on a couple big rides and they did well. Caden did not enjoy the water roller coaster thing though. Halfway down the big hill he was yelling "all done, all done". I was thinking the same thing myself. ha
They all fell asleep on the way home and barely woke up to get changed and in to bed.

I'm so tired

Poor little Sydney just couldn't stay awake for one more minute. I had just picked up Spencer from preschool and figured I would check my e-mail quickly and let the kids wind down for a minute before nap time. I looked down at my feet and there she was - sound asleep. She barely woke up when I took her upstairs.

I am so going to miss these days when they are grown up. They are already growing up WAY too fast.
